Voguing “Old Way” class – Utrecht Ballroom Scene
M. van Meelstraat 2 M. van Meelstraat 2, Utrecht, NederlandJoin us for our weekly community "Voguing Old Way" class. This week, the class is free, thanks to our collaboration with Utrecht Queer Culture Festival. Voguing is a dance style that has emerged from the ballroom culture in Harlem, New York from the 1960s throughout the 1980s. Ballroom culture was originally created by the Black and Latino LGBTQ-community to create a safer space in which they could freely express themselves and feel a sense of belonging. "Old Way" is one of the three main performance categories of Voguing, and was the original style which is characterised by the formation of lines, symmetry, and shapes inspired by fashion poses, Egyptian hieroglyphs and martial arts. This dance class is extra beginners-friendly: first-timers are more than welcome, and you don't need to have any dance background or experience. Feel free to wear something light and comfortable that you can move around in.
