Queer Hier

Hoe is het om queer te zijn in de openbare ruimte? FAAM onderzoekt dit maatschappelijk vraagstuk samen met makers en denkers en denken na over oplossingen. Tijdens het Utrecht Queer Culture Festival krijgen drie duo’s de mogelijkheid om hun interventies te testen bij het grote publiek. Op 14 oktober houden maker en denker Yumi Maes en Fleur van Leeuwen een interventie bij PANN, een Utrechtse LHBTQIA+-organisatie die maandelijks feesten organiseert. Met hun interventie, getiteld Fooling Around, introduceren ze De Dwaas of De Nar als queer symbool.

In tarot, The Fool is the symbol for someone starting their journey, with an open heart and joyful attitude. They stand right on top of a cliff, about to tumble into a future unknown. Here we introduce The Fool as a queer symbol: someone who breaks open binaries: between man/woman, emotion/reason, establishment/the people, seriousness/playfulness. The character is also transformational, experimental and proposes a different way of looking at the world. Let us play and experiment with all the possibilities that exist, beyond what is expected from us. Embrace your inner fool and begin your journey into the future. We do not know where it goes, but you need to take a leap of faith and begin (normaal)
